"We came off an IMS system that did not have a work order or production module built in. It took us a while to break our 20 + years of old habits and get used to using the tools that were right at our fingertips. You are able to track every step of each transaction and every part. You can see the time a part was quoted, when it was moved to a work order and who actually processed it. You can see who pulled the part, QC'd it, when it was put on the delivery manifest, the information never ends. The accountability it has provided management has been very valuable, something our business was missing for years. It has been quite an advancement for our business!"

If you missed the 2009 URG & Pinnacle conference, make sure you don’t do it again as this event was great! With over 400 attendees visiting from as far away as Australia and the Netherlands this conference was the best one yet. I know, we say this every year but just ask an attendee and they will tell you the same.
Once again, URG did a great job with the venue, speakers and classes. The only problem users had was deciding which seminar to attend as there were so many good ones to choose from. We certainly have our work cut out for us next year to top this event but it’s a challenge ASA & URG will be looking forward to.
One of the most positive things to see is the sense of community Pinnacle users have. Even under a slumping economy this group is succeeding and optimistic about the future of the industry.
Pinnacle Professional was generating a lot of excitement and more users are scheduling upgrades every week. A larger demonstration room next year is going to be needed as getting in there to see Pinnacle Professional was a tough prospect.
Due to the aggressive pace of development of new features, there was just a lot of new stuff to show. Some of the new features added, like Mitchell Repairmate integration, significant enhancements to the work order manager, as well as the soon-to-be-released remote work order utility, give Pinnacle Pro users a definitive edge in the industry.
Managing the production process, giving sales staff more information and teaming up with trading partners will be easier and more efficient than ever before. This year’s conference had more non-Pinnacle user attendance then previous events as so much of the information being shared had value for all recyclers. This is certainly a trend we all welcome.
We would like to take this opportunity to invite two new recycling facilities to the Pinnacle community. Higgins Auto Wrecking in Bakersfield CA and Glenwood Foreign Auto Parts in Creswell OR. Actual Systems is looking forward to an exciting year with Pinnacle Professional in adding new users and upgrading existing customers with the most progressive inventory management system available worldwide.

The 16th and 17th of November saw APRAA members from all
over Australia descend on Adelaide for their 25th annual event.
This year was a 'yard tour' style event with a coach trip arranged
to deliver all attendees to Just Commodore Spares, Oriental Auto
Parts, U Pull It Spares and Paradise Auto Parts. The lunch stop
was arranged at Paradise Auto Parts and everyone then had the
opportunity to look around Hugo Pellegrini's show place facility.
At the heart of Hugo's parts business is a dedicated team of
individuals, all focussed on selling car parts and maximising the
return Paradise receives on every vehicle it dismantles.
During
the tour, it was very obvious that Paradise's computer software
also plays a major role in their success, as the staff describe
how they use the Pinnacle "Pre Dismantle List" to decide which
parts to input into the system, which ones to take off the car and
which ones are likely to become excess stock if they are taken
off !!! Beyond the dismantling process, the sales staff have access
not only to the stock of Paradise Auto Parts, but also to more than
20 other significant dismantlers all over Australia via PinnacleNet.
This gives them the opportunity to source parts from far and wide
for their own customers, thus saying 'YES' more often, and also
allows them to effectively expand their sales workforce all over
Australia by showing their parts on every other Pinnacle user's
screens automatically. These facilities when combined with the
comprehensive Pinnacle Interchange data, gives Paradise the
edge they need to stay ahead of the competition.
